While we've managed to avoid having Bree pick up on the major naughty words she's still incorporated a few words and phrases I'm personally not too thrilled about into her repertoire. She's been using the word stupid for example. Here are a couple other little stories about things she's said that make me raise my eyebrows (and also stifle my laugh):
Every time I think we've convinced Brianna that shut up is not a good thing to say she fires off with it again. (I suppose it really could be worse though!) Today she told me to shut up again. (It's odd though she just says it out of the blue when no one is even talking.) So, she said it and I gave her the Mommy Look. (You know, the one that lets them know they're about to die if they don't take it back.) So, she quickly ammended herself and said, "No, not shut up Mom...could you stop talking?" (Which I thought was impressive since it means she knows the definition of shut up at least.) So, I told her again that's not an okay thing to tell your parents. Finally, she told me that Bug's Life says it...so THAT'S where she keeps hearing it and why she's wanting to say it. Dang Bug's Life needs to just SHUT UP! :)
While working on the computer today I got a little frustrated at not getting something to work fast enough. So, showing much restraint all I said was "What the??" and let it trail off. Brianna, however, thought it was an invitation to fill in the blank and without missing a beat she said "heck!" I thought this was pretty funny and so I started laughing despite myself but I was laughing even harder in the next minute when my daughter looked at me askance and in response to my laughing said, "Mom, you're freakin' me out!"
